Visiting policies

During Your Visits

  • Children aged 15 or below must be accompanied by a person over the age of 18 at all time during the visit.

  • Visitors should not enter any part of the Museum that is closed to the public.

  • Visitors should not write on, mark, soil or damage any exhibit, installation, wall or facility in the museum.

  • Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Museum including the outdoor Sun Garden.

  • Animals are not allowed in all areas of the Museum (except for guide dogs for the blind).

  • Food (including gum and candy) and drinks are prohibited inside the Museum.

  • Photography and video cameras are strictly prohibited inside the Museum.

  • Visitors should keep their voices low.

  • Running and rough play are prohibited.

  • Visitors should follow all signs, notices, directions and instructions given by Museum staff.

  • Luggage, carry-on bags, oversize backpacks, sports equipment, and musical instruments are not allowed in the Museum.

  • Large items such as large bags and umbrellas cannot be brought into the Museum and must be checked in at the Reception upon arrival. The Museum reserves the right to decide what can and cannot be checked in.

  • Strollers are permitted but visitors must take extreme care to avoid any damage to other persons and/or objects in the Museum.

  • Security procedures will be in place for anyone entering the Museum with dangerous goods, including flammable substances, corrosive substances, noxious items and gas cylinders.

  • The Museum reserves the right to refuse or dismiss any visitor.

 

Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions

 

Typhoon Signal Pre-No.8/No. 8

  • When Typhoon Signal Pre-No.8/No. 8 or above is hoisted at or after 8 am, the Museum will be closed until the warning is cancelled.

  • If the Typhoon Signal Pre-No.8/No. 8 is cancelled before 2 pm, the Museum will be re-opened within two hours after the warning is canceled.

  • If the warning is cancelled after 2 pm, the Museum will remain closed for the entire day. All programmes scheduled for that day, will be cancelled.

  • In case when Typhoon Signal Pre-No.8/No. 8 is issued during opening hours, the Museum will be closed immediately. All appointments and programmes scheduled for that day, will be cancelled.

Black Rainstorm Warning

  • When Black Rainstorm Warning is issued at or after 8 am, the Museum will be closed until the warning is cancelled.

  • If the Black Rainstorm Warning is canceled before 2 pm, the Museum will be re-opened within two hours after the warning is canceled.

  • If the warning is cancelled after 2 pm, the Museum will remain closed for the entire day. All appointments and programmes scheduled for that day, will be cancelled.

  • In case when Black Rainstorm Warning is issued during opening hours, the Museum will remain opened until 6 pm.

By entering the Museum as a visitor, you acknowledge that your participation is voluntary. You may be photographed or filmed during the visit and you grant the Museum a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable, irrevocable and unrestricted right to use, reproduce, publish and display any reports, imagery, videos or other copyright material, resulting from your visit, in any manner or media, including the right to sub-license to others at Museum's discretion.
